Our Mission and Impact
Giving cats the lives they deserve. At Tenth Life, we provide veterinary care, foster homes, and adoptive placements to stray cats and kittens, with a focus on those with special needs. We work to end unnecessary euthanasia and reduce cat homelessness in St. Louis through educational outreach, community programs, and collaborative partnerships. We believe that every cat—regardless of emotional or physical limitations—deserves the chance for a fulfilling and happy life.

Our History
Tenth Life Cat Rescue was founded on January 2, 2009 to address a lack of resources dedicated to stray cats and kittens in the St. Louis area. While several organizations focused on saving area felines, but none possessed the specific mission of prioritizing cats with injuries and special needs, about which founder, Elizabeth Frick, was deeply passionate.
We started with just a single foster home, $50, no official funding, and the kindness of Ms. Frick’s friends and family. Tenth Life has since blossomed into an organization with numerous dedicated foster homes in the St. Louis area. Typically, more than 100 cats in its care at any given time.
Tenth Life has grown through word-of-mouth, a strong presence on social media, and the dedication of the amazing volunteers and supporters who champion and share our mission.
Tenth Life Cat Companions
Our Cat Companions Program brings joy to residents of assisted living communities in the St. Louis area. Our dedicated volunteers visit with friendly, well-socialized cats, giving residents the opportunity to interact, cuddle, and experience the many therapeutic benefits of feline companionship. Not only do the visits provide comfort and reduce stress, but they also create meaningful connections for both the residents and the cats.

Careers
We’re not currently expanding our staff team, but we’re always welcoming compassionate volunteers!

“I adopted my cat, Alice (formerly known as Gertie) from Tenth Life. She’s my soul cat and my best friend. They took such amazing care of her and made sure I had everything I needed to bring her home and give her the best care. They are such an amazing organization, and I am so insanely grateful that they gave her a Tenth Life so that I could spend it with her.“
